Downtown Staten Island is the place for business. It is located along the Staten Island Railroad with stations at Clifton, Stapleton, Tompkinsville and St. George. It is serviced by every MTA SI bus enroute to the St. George Ferry Terminal located within the Downtown Staten Island corridor.
The corridor has a rich history. It was the area where the Lenape Indians first settled, making way later for the Dutch and first Governors of New York.
The military is ever present along the Downtown corridor at Ft. Wadsworth and at the US Coast Guard base in Rosebank. It's original station was at the site now being developed by Triangle Equities as Lighthouse Point adjacent to the St. George Ferry.
Woolworths Department store was the anchor retailer in Stapleton located on Water Street adjacent to the old Staten Island Savings Bank lining Tapan Park. While the area has changed throughout the years, the Bay Street corridor remains one of Staten Island's most traveled retail corridor with small mom and pop shops weathering the test of time to serve the neighborhood.
Our small businesses are committed to the Downtown Staten Island Community. We urge you to support them. #Shop|Eat|Visit|DowntownSI
